Guru Nanak was the founder of the Sikh religion and is considered the first Guru of the Sikhs. He was born in 1469 in the city of Talwandi, in the Punjab region of India.
Guru Nanak’s teachings emphasized the unity of God, the equality of all human beings, and the rejection of caste and social prejudices. He stressed the importance of leading a virtuous life and performing selfless service to others.
Guru Nanak traveled extensively, spreading his message of truth and love throughout the Indian subcontinent and beyond. He founded a community of followers, known as the Sikhs, who continue to follow his teachings to this day.
Guru Nanak’s birthday, known as Guru Nanak Jayanti, is celebrated by Sikhs every year on Kartik Puranmashi, the full moon day of the Kartik month according to the Hindu lunar calendar.
