From Knee-Jerk Reactions to Long-Term Solutions: Tackling Social Issues

In response to distressing events such as the recent violation of a doctor in Kolkata, our immediate reactions are often visceral and instinctive, akin to a reflexive response. These knee-jerk reactions, while natural and perhaps necessary, are inherently transient. They serve as an initial outcry against the injustice but lack the sustainability required to effect enduring change.

It is imperative to recognize that social maladies of this nature demand comprehensive and long-term strategies. The ephemeral nature of our immediate responses means that, without sustained effort and systemic intervention, we risk reverting to the status quo. Thus, while our initial reactions are crucial in highlighting the issue, they must be supplemented with deliberate and persistent actions aimed at addressing the root causes and implementing lasting solutions. Only through such a multifaceted approach can we hope to transcend the cycle of reaction and inaction, ultimately fostering a more just and equitable society.

In light of the aforementioned discussion, I have written and composed a song in Punjabi to shed light on one critical area where we can begin to address the issue of crimes against women in India.
The Chorus/emphasis of my song is reflected in the following lines in Gurmukhi Script:
ਮਾਏ ਨੀ ਮਾਏ
ਧੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਤਕਰਾ ਛੱਡ
ਰੱਖੜੀ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ
ਧੀ ਤੇ ਪੁੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਸੱਦ
The complete song is now available on major streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music. I am sharing a brief snippet of it here.
