Lunch Meeting with Dr Peter Velappan

Dato Dr Peter Vellapan

Lunch Meeting with Dr Peter VelappanĀ

I feel both honored and lucky to know and meet some great people in the world whose life journeys are both inspiring and motivating. Today had the honor of having lunch with Dato Dr Peter Velappan. He presented me with an autographed book of his and that was an icing on the proverbial cake.

In 1978, Dato Dr Velappan was appointed General Secretary of the AFC (Asian Football Confederation). He oversaw the entry of many member countries into the AFC during his tenure, which also saw Asia host its first ever FIFA World Cup. He was Coordination Director of the Organising Committee of the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

After his retirement in 2007, he has been actively involved with many NGOs in fulfilling his social responsibilities.

May he keep inspiring us all for many many years to come.

Drive through S.M.A.R.T. Tunnel Malaysia (January 15,2015)

The “Stormwater Management And Road Tunnel” or “SMART Tunnel“, E38 is a storm drainage and road structure in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and a major national project in the country. The 9.7 km (6.0 mi) tunnel is the longest stormwater tunnel in South East Asia and second longest in Asia.

The main objective of this tunnel is to solve the problem of flash floods in Kuala Lumpur and also to reduce traffic jams along Jalan Sungai Besi and Loke Yew flyover at Pudu during rush hour. There are two components of this tunnel, the stormwater tunnel and motorway tunnel. It is the longest multi-purpose tunnel in the world.

In 2011, the SMART tunnel received the UN Habitat Scroll of Honour Award for its innovative and unique management of storm water and peak hour traffic.
